Long <br />Division Dueaor <br />Listed below are additional adequacy review comments on the above-captioned Regular 1 12 <br />Application for 105.41 acres. The decision date for your application is scheduled for December <br />11, 2001. Therefore. I would appreciate a response from you on or before November 23, 2001. <br />Please be advised that your application may be deemed inadequate and may be denied on <br />December 11, 2001 unless the following adequacy review items are addressed to the satisfaction <br />of [he Division. <br />6.4.4 EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan <br />17. The mine plan specifies dewatering and dry mining methods. During the Division's recent <br />pre-operation inspection the matter of pit dewatering and offsite discharge was discussed. The <br />applicant mentioned that groundwater from pit dewatering activities would be discharged directly <br />into either the Weiskopf Ditch or the Supple Ditch, both of which are located within [he <br />proposed permit area. Please provide a discussion of the maximum pit intlows (volume and rate) <br />expected, the expected discharge rate needed to sustain a proper water balance during mining. the <br />total capacity of the Weiskopf Ditch and the Supple Ditch, and the available capacity of the <br />Weiskopf Ditch and the Supple Ditch. (It is important for the applicant [o demonstrate that the <br />expected volume of water to be discharged offsite from pit dewatering can be safely discharged <br />without causing excessive erosion or flooding of [he existing ditches. It is also important for [he <br />applicant to demonstrate that the ditches will continue to function as intended, even with the <br />tlows added from pit dewatering).
