C. is pleased to provide professional services to verify
the construction of the sedimentation pond at the O.C. No. 2 Mine.
Pond design criteria has been supplied by Fox Consultants and is
based on the Gingery Associates Inc.'s report dated July 16, 1930.
On I~',ay 21st, a site visit was made by Pdr. William Balaz, ?dincon,
accompanied by t4;r. Bob ~;eaver, O.C. Ido. 2 Mine Foreman. The
dimensions of the constructed pond were measured and compared to
the Gingery Associates' design specifications. The results are:
1.) The pcnd is b~iilt on the hillside as designed, but may be
slightly lower in elevation. This is based on a calculated
top of berm elevation of 9080 (by altimeter) compared to
a design elevation of 9139.5• This appears to have been
done to facilitate construction by minimizing the cut
required and to locate the pond on a flatter slope.
2.) The pond is constructed to approximate design dimensions
as shoe;n in the Appendix,
3.) The pond slopes approximate the required 2:1 and 3:1
grades. Calculations and comments based on field observa-
tions are included in the Appendix.
