It is a perennial bunchgrass that reproduces sexually. It is not <br />weedy or poisonous. Biq bluegrass grows best in dry-moist sites. <br />Growth on clay loam, loam and sandy loam is good. This plant grows best <br />on gentle and moderate slopes and is rated medium in its ability to <br />control erosion. Establishment requirements for big bluegrass are <br />medium. Short term revegetation potential is medium and long tern <br />revegetation potential is high. This grass biomass production is rated <br />• medium. It provides good cover for game birds, small non-game birds, <br />and small mammals. Food value of big bluegrass is fair for all classes <br />of wildlife present at the Edna Mine. Cattle and sheet forage <br />palatability is good. Energy value is rated fair and protein value <br />poor. <br />HLUEHUNCH WHEATGRASS: AGROPYRON SPICATUM <br />Bluebunch wheatgrass is a native perennial that prefers dry-moist <br />sites. It is neither weedy nor poisonous. This wheatgrass ranges from <br />4,500 to 8,500 feet in Colorado. Growth of this grass in sandy loam and <br />clay loam on moderate to steep slopes is good and fair on gentle slopes. <br />Erosion control potential is medium. Establishment requirements are <br />medium. The short term revegetation potential is low and the long term <br />• potential high. Medium biomass production may be expected.
