• SKUNKBUSH SUMAC: RHUS TRILOBATA NUTT. <br />This native shrub ranges from 3,500 to 9,000 feet in dry sites. <br />It ie non-weedy and reproduces sexually and vegetatively. it is a <br />suspect poisoner. Growth in sandy loam, loam and clay loam on slopes of <br />all degree is good. The erosion control potential of skunkbush sumac is <br />medium. Establishment requirements are also medium. The short term <br />revegetation potential is low and the long term medium. The biomass <br />production potential is rated medium. Good cover is provided to elk, <br />deer, game birds, small non-game birds and small mammals. Good food <br />value is produced for game birds, small mammals and small non-game <br />birds. Fair food value is obtained by elk and deer. Cattle and sheep <br />forage palatability is poor. Energy retention is fair and protein poor. <br />• <br />MOUNTAIN SNOwBERRY: SYMPHORICARPOS OREOPHILUS GRAY <br />This native shrub grows in dry-moist sites between 4,600 and <br />10,500 feet. Reproduction occurs both sexually and vegetatively. <br />Mountain snowberry is non-weedy and nat poisonous. Growth in sandy <br />loam, loam and clay loam on slopes of all aspects is good. Erosion <br />control potential of this shrub is good. Establishment requirements are <br />medium. Short term revegetation potentials are low, but once <br />established, this plant is very desirable and for long term revegetation <br />it is highly rated. Potential biomass production is medium. Good cover <br />is provided all classes of wildlife except elk, which receives fair <br />cover from this shrub. Food values are good for deer, game birds,smnll <br />mammals and non-game birds.
