• UTAH SERVICEBERRY: AMELANCHIER UTAHENSIS KOEHNE <br />Serviceberry is a native shrub-tree found in dry-moist sites from <br />5,000 to 9,500 feet in Colorado. It reproduces sexually and is non- <br />weedy. This plant ie not poisonous to livestock. Growth is good in <br />sandy loam, loam and clay loam on slopes of all degree. Erosion control <br />potential is medium. Establishment requirements are high. A low rating <br />is given for the short term revegetation potential and a medium rating <br />for long term. Medium biomass production may be expected. Cover for <br />all five classes of wildlife is good. Good food values are obtained by <br />deer, game birds, small non-game birds and small mammals. Elk receive <br />fair food value. Cattle and sheep forage palatability is fair. Energy <br />and protein retention values are fair. <br />• <br />SHRUBBY CINQUEFOIL: POTENTILLA FRUITICOSA L. <br />Shrubby Cinquefoil is a native shrub found in dry-moist sites <br />between 5,400 and 12,100 feet. Reproduction occurs sexually. This <br />species is non-weedy and isn't poisonous. Growth in sandy loam, loam <br />and clay loam on gentle slopes is good. Fair growth may be obtained on <br />moderate slopes and poor on steep slopes with these soils. Erosion <br />control potential for this Cinquefoil is medium. The plant's <br />establishment requirements are rated medium. Short term revegetation <br />potential is medium to high. Biomass production is medium for this <br />shrub. Small mammals, game birds and small non-game birds find good <br />cover in shrubby Cinquefoil. Deer obtain fair cover from it. Fair food <br />value is provided to elk, deer, small mammals and small non-game birds. <br />• Forage palatability for cattle and sheep is poor.
