Reproduction occurs
sexually and vegetatively from suckers. In
natural circumstances hydrolysis of HCN is brought about by enzymatic
action in the plant or animal. Potential for poisoning is highly
variable. About 0.254 of an animal's weight to leaves is a normally
lethal amount. HCN content is greatest in young leaves.
FOURWING SALTBUSH: ATRIPLEX CANESCENS (PURSH) NUTT.
This native shrub reproduces sexually and is found in dry sites
• from 3,900 to 8,600 feet in Colorado.
