And as new
owners we wish to cooperate and comply fully with the Divisions rules and regulations. As
such we have encountered a few problems, namely in the area of surface water testing. I
explained to Mr. Posey that we are in the process of converting the mine from a heap leach
operation to a flotation mill.
Prior to any new disturbances on the site we need to establish baseline surface water quality
standards. I also understand that the regulations require 5 quarters testing to establish this
baseline. Would it be possible however to establish baseline criteria in 3 quarters? I sug-
gestedthis to Mr. Posey and he agreed to support our position provided you also agree.
After consultation with Dr. Posey we agreed to test the following items:
1. Aluminum; Antimony; Arsenic; Barium; Beryllium; Cadmium; Chromium III;
Chromium VI; Copper; Iron; Lead; Manganese; Mercury; Nickel; Selenium; Silver;
Thallium; Uranium; and Zinc. (Atl tested, where possible, to Chronic Aquatic Life
Standards)
2. Dissolved Oxygen.
3. Ph.
4. Temperature.
5. Hardness.
6. Total Residual Chlorine.
7. Nitrite.
8. Nitrate.
9. WAD Cyanide and free Cyanide.
