"` Surface and groundwater monitoring is the permit and
adjacent areas x111 also continue to gather data to assess lonq-
term impacts•of.the operations. The specific monitoring program
is gresented in section 2.05.6, Proteotion of the Hydrologic
Balance.
(3) Alternative Water Suap~v Information
Results of the detailed surface and groundwater study
completed by Water, Waste and Land, Ltd. and subsequent studies
by WFC indicate that the mining operation at the Golden Eagle
Mine should not result in significant contamination, diminution,
or interruption of underground or surface water sources within
the permit area and adjacent areas. As indicated in Table 7
(Well Survey), Table 8 (Windmill Survey) and Table 9 (Stockpond
Survey), all water resources are obtained from Strata above the
coal seam to be mined. Section 2.05.6, Mitigation of Surface
Coal Mining Operation Impacts, indicates that longwall mined
areas will subside plastically rather than fracturing the
inherent material. As a result, significant impact to these
resources is not likely to occur. In addition, if impa<:ts are
identified, WFC will utilize surface water, overburden aquifer
and/or sub-coal aquifers to replace water supply.

2.04-25 (Revised 9/01/89)
(Revised 1/09/90)
