District Wildlife Manager <br />Mark Lamb is familiar with this location and 1 have discussed the project with him. <br />Most of this site is already disturbed due to previous mining activity in the area. The disturbed <br />area has little value as wildlife habitat and mining there should not have significant new impacts <br />to wildlife. Part of the site has not been disturbed and does have sign cant value to wildlife: <br />Since the mountain plover, a state special concern species, is known to use this general viciriity <br />for riesting; care .should be taken in the undisturbed portion of the site not to destroy any, <br />mountain plover nests..,,This could be avoided by either disturbing the ground during the non= <br />nesting season (fall=winter), or searching the area for plover nests prior to any new ground <br />disturbance during the spring/summer. <br />A coyote den is known to occur on this site, and since destroying active dens is illegal, we <br />suggest that the den area be disturbed during the non-denning period, late fall and winter. <br />The bulk of the re-seeding mix consists of two non-native grasses, smooth brome and <br />pubescent wheatgrass.
