I have enclosed a copy of the DOW'S comments. Please address their concerns about
mountain plover nests and the coyote den by making appropriate changes or additions to your Exhibit
C- Mining plan.
Please also address the DOW'S concern regarding your reclamation plan seed mix. Our Division is
also concerned about the seed mix because the future land use is rangeland and, if the reclamation
species are not native to the area, management of the reclaimed area will be difficult and not consistent
with the surrounding rangeland. Please eliminate the smooth brome and pubescent wheatgrass from
the mix and add native species such as western wheatgrass, Idaho fescue Arizona fescue thurber
fescue and thickspike wheat grass. You should contact your local Natural Resource Conservation
Service representative for assistance in developing an appropriate seed mix. The seed mix that would
be appropriate for your peat mining operation would not be appropriate for your proposed gravel
operation because of differing soil and site conditions.
If you have any question, please call me at (303) 866-4922.
Sincerely,
oZ O Gi ~.z~'wc~
Larry D.
