Model
514124 is recommended for collection of monitor well
samples. The Sinco unit will easily fit in 2" diameter
casing. The unit should be fitted with SQ feet of tubing to
provide operational flexibility. A CGA 580 inert gas
regulator capable of 50-100 pounds pressure on the discharge
side is required. The Linde Model R-27-CF-580 Argon
regulator is recommended. A bottle of nitrogen or argon is
required to operate the sampler; the "Q" size cylinders
contain more than adequate gas for a sampling program and
are easily handled. Specifications and operating
instructions for the sampler are included in the appendix.
The system would cost approximately X500 er.cluding the gas
supply.
Prior to sampling, fluid should be withdrawn from the well
while periodically measuring the temperature, pH and
conductivity. When these values have stabilized fresh
formation water has been drawn into the well and the sample
can now be taken. Normally this requires the withdrawal of 1
- 2 casing volume equivalents. The filling time of the
sampler can be significantly reduced when sampling under low
static head by connecting the sampler discharge tube to a
vacuum source, such as a vehicle engine intake manifold.
C~
-26-
