EXHIBIT D
' MINING PLAN AND TIMETABLE
LOCATION
' The affected lands are located approximately 19 miles east
of Highway 83 and immediately south of Elbert County Road N~94
' (Arapahoe ~Sq). The affected lands consist of two areas approximately
la miles apart; both areas abut the county road. (See Exhibit ~~
'
CURRENT CONDITIONS
Map Exhibits C-lA and C-1B indicate the outline of the affected
' land, the current topography, touching landowners and hydrological
factors. Map Exhibit I-lA and I-1B depict current soil conditions and
t Map Exhibits J-lA and J-1B depict current vegetation.
No buildings or facilities are located on the affected land or
' within 200 feet of the boundaries thereof.
t GEOLOGIC SETTING
The clays to be mined are From the Upper Dawson Formation. At
' the mining site, the Upper Dawson consists of flat-lying claystones
of varying thickness which are lenticular and discontinuous. Exploration
drilling has indicated that some of these clay strata are useable for
the manufacture of brick. The useable clay is expected to range from
zero to over 40 feet in thickness. The strata underlying the production
zone is expected to be claystone.
' MINING PLAN
The fired colors of the clays in Stage lA generally differ from
' those in Stage 1B and consequently will be used for the manufacturing
of different colored brick. The demands of the market place will
' determine the type of brick being manufactured which in turn will
determine which clay is to be mined. Therefore, the brick market
would determine the extent of the mining activities in both Stage lA
' and Stage 1B.
