Blue Flame Coal Mine commits to marking access roads with mine <br />• identification signs placed in conspicuous places immediately inside the <br />property boundaries. <br />The existing roads and any reconstructed portions that might be <br />necessary will in no way cause damage to wildlife, fish, the environment <br />and dill not cause additional contribution of suspended solids to stream <br />flow or runoff. <br />The reclamation map has been modified to reflect the removal by <br />reclamation of the access roads to correlate with the discussion of road <br />reclamation. <br />Regarding retention of access roads, Blue Flame Coal Mine commits <br />to reclaiming all roads within the 40 acre permit area. These roads in- <br />elude our road up to the point where it intersects the haul road of King <br />Coal Mine. The other access road within the Northwestern portion of the <br />40 acre permit area will also be reclaimed up to the point where it inter- <br />. sects t}ie access road of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. The Ute access road <br />lies outside of the 40 acre permit area and is the property of the tribe. <br />It is used as an access road by the Ute Tribe to their Property and has <br />been in existance prior to any mining operation. Blue Flame Coal Mine has <br />only a right of use over this portion of the road. <br />4.03.1(3) ROAD DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION <br />Access roads are designed and constructed in compliance with the <br />given rules of 4.03 in order to control erosion and disturbances of the hy- <br />drologic balance. Excessive road cuts and embankments have been avoided. <br />The overall grade of the access roads do not exceed 10$. The pitch grade <br />on the Eastern access road is 12.1 and is consecutive for 260 feet until <br />it reaches the mine bench. The pitch grade on the Western access road is <br />13.1 and is continuous for approximately 500 feet. The access roads have <br />a horizontal alignment that is as consistent with the natural topography as <br />possible, therefore, insuring that the road will not cause environmental <br />damage. <br />• <br />
