The conversion plan described on the EPA Well Rework Record form and BLM
Sundry Notice for well 2A-2 V is to plug back from the mining zone to above the B-
Groove. The well will be perforated in the A-Groove and utilized as a second raw
water supply well. Due to limited availability of work over rigs, a second raw water
wells is essential. A pump will be installed in 2A-2V and the well will be operated
as a replacement well when 90-1 pump fails. The pump/motor generally last 2-3
years and then the back up well will be utilized. A water well permit will be
obtained from the State Water Engineer prior to use, and a copy will be submitted to
the DMG.
Action on the five wells discussed above is planned in 2004 as soon as approval is
obtained. Remaining wells (old production/recovery wells) identified for plugging
and abandonment in the UIC Permit, will be addressed in 2005, within 18 months of
UIC Permit approval.
If there are any questions please contact Rod Storey, NSI Drilling Superintendent or
myself.
SincereGely,
~Z,
C~~~~
Ed Baker, REM
EHS Manager
Cc: EPA
BLM
