-4. The areal extent is insignificant (20 acres).
6.3 POTENTIAL NORTH FORK ALLWIAL VALLEY FLOOR
In our opinion, the alluvial valley on both sides of
the North Fork Gunnison River, indicated on Plate 2 of this
report, should be designated as an AVF.
At the meeting in the MLR offices (MLR, CWI, GEO-
HYDRO) on-July 30, 1982 discussions were held as to whether
an additional area, located between the alluvial valley of
the North Fork River and the Fire Mountain irrigation canal
should be classified, and possibly designated as AVF. The area
is underlain by coarse-grained slope outwash deposits, located
higher in the slope.
• The area cannot be classified as an unconsolidated
streamlaid deposit holding streams (2.06.8(3)(c)i)), and we
have classified it as uplands. The area is also largely
covered by soils that have been classified as unsuitable for
farming (see Soils Map, Plate 5). The area could be designated
as an AVF only because of historical use of parts of it (2.06.
8(3)(c)(ii)(A)). In our opinion, this upland is not an AVF.
September 7, 1982 lttc~al ~a.~
Michal Bukovansk
Senior Engineering Geologist
l~o.d,~G„s, ~.,L-a.~.~
Vladimir Straskraba
Senior Hydrologist
- 21 -
c,EO~mRO coNw~nr~,~NC.
