ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS TO CM-25 MIhE APPLICATION
fl. A. Additional acreage has been added to extend the waste dump, so
that the total disturbed acreage is now 7.34 acres. The additional
Pee should be 521.50 $105.00 less a balance oP $83.50.
2. A. Exhibit A should include the following statement: All legal descrip-
tions whould contain N.M.P.M. after township and range.
3. A. As stated in the original application, the applicability of a timetable
of surface disturbance to an underground mining plan is questionable.
All surface disturbance around the portal area has been done, with the
exception of gradual growth oP the waste dump. However, this growth
has been projected roughly and accounted for in the permitted acreage.
Surface ventholes will be constructed within several years. Again, this
acreage has been accounted for (see Exhibit C-2), but may require a
technical revision to change its location. The life of the mine is
protected to be between fifteen and twenty years.
B. Affected acreage claimed by Cotter Corporation is shaded on the
revised map, Exhibit C-2. Surface facilities involved include two
water tanks, two trailers, power transmittor, powder magazine storage
shed, a compressor house, and an office and shop building. The waste
area shown on the map includes projected disturbed acreage.
C. Approximately 10,000 gallons of water per month are used during the
development stages. The mining stages require the same amount. Water
is obtained Prom Union Carbide Corporation in Uravan, Colorado.
D. The CAM-25 Mine produces less than 70,000 tons oP combined ore and
waste yearly.
4. A. A revised map, Exhibit C-2, has been included.
5. A. Several key points in the Department of Energy (formerly the Energy
Research and Devdlopment Administration, or E.R.D.A.) lease have an
effect on the reclamation plan. They are as Follows:
1) Because oP the possibility that waste dumps may contain, what
could be in the future a marketable grade of ore, the major
portion of the dump cannot be removed from the lease block.
This stipulation also puts somewhat of a limit on the extent
of grading that can be done, that is, the dump cannot be spread
over a large area so as to make the material irretrievable in
the future.
2) Portals, adits, ventholes, and any other such features of the
mine cannot be permanently closed without the approval and
,.. consent oP the Department oP Energy. This would be applicable
to the reclamation plan in the event that Cotter would cease
mining when the D.O.E. considered the mine to still hold market-
able ore.
