Utility <br />trench backfill may need to be tented about every 100 linear feet <br />of lift of backfill. <br />15.2 Concrete Quality <br />It is our understanding current plans include reinforced struc- <br />tural concrete for foundations and walls and may include concrete <br />slabs-on-grade and pavement. To insure concrete members perform as <br />intended, the structural engineer should be consulted and should <br />address factors such as design loadings, anticipated movement and <br />deformations. <br />The quality of concrete ie influenced by proportioning of the <br />concrete mix, placement, consolidation and curing. Desirable <br />qualities of concrete include compressive strength, water tightness <br />and resistance to weathering. Engineering observations and testing <br />of concrete during construction is essential as an aid to safeguard <br />the quality of the completed concrete. <br />Testing of the concrete is normally performed to determine com- <br />pressive strength, entrained air content, slump and temperature. <br />We recommend that your budget include provisions for testing of <br />concrete during construction.
