A "24 hour oot~osite" sample is a combination of at least eight <br />(8) sample aliquots of at least 100 milliliters, collected at <br />equally spaced intervals during the operating hours of a facility <br />over atwenty-four (24) hour period. For volatile pollutants, <br />aliquots must be combined in the laboratory i,m„daiately before <br />analyses. '1118 Composite must be flow pr9portionali eithPS the <br />time interval between each aliquot or the wlume of eadl aliquot <br />must be prvportiCnal. to either the wastewater or effluent flow at <br />the time of sampling or the total wastewater or effluent flow <br />since the collection of the previous aliquot. Aliquots may be <br />collected manually ar automatically. <br />- In the event an oil sheen ar floating oil is observed, a grab sample <br />shall be collected, analyzed, and reported on the appropriate II~2. <br />In addition, corrective action shall be taken inanecliately to mitigate <br />the di~har~re of oil and grease. A description of the oarrective <br />action taken should be included with the II~42. <br />g/ -Where, based on a minuman of 5 samples, the permittee demnstrates to <br />the satisfaction of the Water Quality Control Division that the level <br />of total dissolved solids (TLZS) en the effluent can be calculated <br />based upon the level of electrical conductivity, the permittee may <br />measure and report TDS >n terms of electrical corductivity. <br />J - TDS shall be sampled on a monthly basis until six samples have been <br />•. analyzed. A report of 'TIO Discharge" shall not be oounte3 as one of <br />the six samples. Thereaftxs, monitoring shall corltirwe on a <br />quarterly basis. Following submittal of the initial six sets of <br />monthly data, the Division shall determine whether the peaittee es <br />zequired to submit a report addressing salt removal in aCCa'rt]arice <br />with Regulations For Iaq~lementation of the Cblorddo River Salinity <br />Ctarrlarr3a Through the NPDES Permit Programs, 3.10.0. If flee salinity <br />report is required, the Division shall so advise the permittee by <br />letter aryl the report shall be sukmiitted within 180 days. <br />J -This parameter is subject to "Nancampliance Notificatice~" <br />requirements of Past II.A.3. (b) (v) of this permit. <br />]/ - ProcedtuE for de*~*+~i*+i ~ settleable solids is contained in 40 CFR <br />434.64. The method detection limit for measuring settleable solids <br />under this part shall be 0.4 ml/1. <br />lJc/ - Should a precipitatien event occur which is greater than the 10-year, <br />24-hour event, the permittee shall 5ubmi.t rain gauge or other <br />appropriate docianerltation in order for an exemption to be claimed. <br />In lieu of such documentation, limitations contained in Part <br />I.A.1.(b), shall apply.
