..
map showing the location of all registered domestic, irrigation, or other wells within 600 feet of
the affected land and pumping rate from such wells, if significant
water quality data collected from any domestic wells within 600 feet of the affected land or
within the known existing contaminant plumes as defined by the Tri County Health
Department and Colorado Waste Management & Hazardous Materials Division
20. Please provide all available information regarding the current status of the depth, shape,
direction of travel, and rate of movement of any contaminant plumes within the affected land or
surrounding area (aquifer). Known contaminants as presented by Pinnacle Pines, LLC are
"DIMP"; several organic compounds including methylene chloride and other chlorinated volatile
organic compounds; pesticides including parathion, DDT's, malathion, and atrazine; and non-
chlorinated hydrocarbons including ethylbenzene and zylene. The Division recotrtmends that you
contact Tri-County Health Department, Colorado Hazardous Materials & Waste Management
Division, Colorado Water Quality Control Division, and Pinnacle Pines, LLC for information on
these contaminants as well as any other regulated contaminants that may be present.
21. Please provide the appropriate State water quality standards for the various contaminants
listed above in hem 20.
22. The applicant has provided a reclamation plan which specifies creation of a 40 acre lined
water storage reservoir. Given the water quality concerns expressed by several objectors and
defined by Pinnacle Pines, LLC ,please describe the desired uses of the water storage reservoir
and the corresponding water quality standazds necessary for the waters to be contained within the
reservoir, ie: agricultural water use, municipal water use, drinking water use, etc.
23. Based on available information and water quality data please provide an analysis of the
presence of any soils and/or groundwater contaminants within the affected land and/or the
potential for future contamination of soils and/or groundwater during mining and reclamation.
Such analysis should include an assessment of the cone of depression and inflows expected
during dewatering and pumping and how the applicant intends to verify that the permeability of
the reservoir liner will be sufficient to exclude any neazby contaminant plumes such that the
stated waters will meet the appropriate State water quality standards as defined in Item 22 above.
Further, the analysis should also define the potential for existing or future contamination within
the 13.2 acre wetland.
24. Please indicate the status of the NPDES Water Discharge Permit that will be required from
the Water Quality Control Division for planned discharges from the site, given the potential for
existing or future groundwater contaminants.
25. Other review comments from Dr. Harry Posey will be forwarded to the applicant as soon as
they are available. ,
