the aquifer properties arc- presented first. A discussion on water quality,
water levels and ground-water movement follows this.
Three wells were drilled across the fill in Pyea[t and Flume Gulches to
define the hydraulic gradient perpendicular to the alluvium. Map 35A shows
the location of the three Pyeatt wells (well P-l, well P-2, and well P-3)
and the three Flume wells (well F-1, well F-2 and well F-3). Five additional
wells were drilled in the Pyeatt drainage to define the relationship between
the Upper Williams Fork and the shallow ground water systems. The following
discussion gives the basic well and pump test information on these wells.
Table 2.7-25 presents the location, aquifer, well depth, depth of water
level, water level elevation, measuring point information and perforated
• interval for the eleven wells in Pyeatt and Flume Gulches. Well F-1 is
completed in the Flume Gulch fill, while wells P-1 and P-2 are located in
fill in Pyeatt Gulch. Wells F-2 and F-3 are completed in the sandstone that
is adjacent to Flume Gulch. Well P-3 is completed in a thin sandstone of
the Lewis Shale. Wells P-4, P-5, P-6 and P-7 are completed in the sandstone
above the G coal seam, while well P-8 is completed in the sandstone below the
G coal seam. Table 2.7-26 gives the lithologic logs For the Flume and Pyeatt
wells.
Seven pump tests have been conducted on the wells to determine the aquifer
properties of the area. A single well pump test was conducted by pumping
well F-1 for two hours at an average rate of 28 gpm. Table 2.7-27 presents
the pumping and recovery data of well F-1, while Figure 2.7-30 gives 'the
. recovery plot. The Theis (refer to pp. 100-102 of Ferris, 1962, for a
2-540
