fluctuations in water level for well P-5 from January, 1982 to November, 1986.
Water-level elevations generally have fluctuated from 643) to 6441 ft-msl. A
gradual decrease in water levels each year after spring runoff is typical. Map M54C
also presents the water-level elevation 'contours for the Second White Sandstone
aquifer for the third quarter of 1986. The gradient near well P-5 in the Second
White Sandstone is thought to be approximately 0.08 ft/ft.
Lewis Shale
Only well P-3 is used to monitor water-level fluctuations in the Lewis Shale.
Figure 2.7-29n presents the water-level elevation versus time data for well P-3.
Data from 1982 to early 1984 is fairly erratic probably. from large seasonal
fluctuations. Water-level data after February 1984 has remained virtually
• unchanged.- The water-level elevation in the Lewis.Shale near well P-3 has been
approximately 6362 ft-msl for the-last year."
Alluvial Aquifer
.Wells .GC-3, .and COY are complet.ed.. in .the .Flume. alluvium, while well P-1 is
completed in the Pyeatt alluvial aquifer in.[he pre-mining area. Figures 2.7-290,
2.7-29p and 2.7-29q present water-level elevation versus time for wells P-1, GC-3
and COY, respectively. Each of the wells exhibits some definite changes in water
level.~h+s ;G not uncommon in alluvial aquifers as they are readily influenced by
surface runoff and precipitation.
We11.P-1 exhibits. consistent water levels from late 1984 to November 1966.
• -. _
2-523w ~EV~SED FEB 13 '87
