Upon removal of the saleable gypsum, the shale over-
burden will be replaced and graded to a slope of 2:1. Grading
of overburden will be accomplished as shown on the final contour
and reclamation map. The shale overburden will be moved with
a crawler dozer and worked so as to break up the larger pieces
and generate fine material to facilitate revegetation.
The top soil will be removed and stockpiled separately.
Annual rye and western wheat grass at 18 lbs. per acre will be
planted to protect the topsoil. Topsoil will be stock-
piled in area U until mining is completed and then stockpiled
over areas 2 and 3 at an average of 6 to 3 inches. The topsoil
is expected to cover 1/2 acre.
Seeding mixture to be used:
I. Gypsum - Shale outcrop
a. Bluestem at 18 lbs. per acre, band broad casted in the
sprinn,.
~. t4ountain Mahogany - spaced 5 feet apart irregularly,
hand planted in the spring.
II. Bottom areas and top soil.
a. Bluestem and blue gramma at 18 lbs. rer acre, hand-
broad casted in the spring.
A test plot will be established in area A to determine
what seeding mixture and species will be the best suited on the
shale overburden. if a better mixture is found, ~.+e will use it
upon approval by the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
