The R-value was calculated from a California <br />Searing Ratio of 1.5 using "Thickness Design-Asphalt pavements or <br />Highways and Streets" by the Asphalt Institute, Manual Series <br />number 1, (MS-1) dated September 1981. The R-value used in our <br />analysis was 5. The calculated theoretical design life in years is <br />based on the anticipated daily traffic for three (3) day per week <br />for fifty two (52) weeks per year. If the truck days are decreased <br />the theoretical design life will be longer by the number of days <br />not used. If the truck days are increased the theoretical design <br />life will be shorter.
