• Phase 3 of the operation will consist of mining slices of the property from north to south using a
field conveyor and/or haul units to bring aggregate back to the plant site. These slices will be
approximately 200 feet to 300 feet wide. They will progress from the west side of the property
and move to the east.
Sediment ponds will be located adjacent to the interstate on the south side of the wash plant.
These ponds will be used to recycle wash water and remove fines. The fines will be removed on
an intermittent basis and used as part of the reclamation operations.
Topsoil and overburden will be temporarily stockpiled along the boundary of Phase 1. As the
perimeter is sealed, stockpiled overburden and topsoil will be used to backfill portions of Phase 1
that are not included in the final reclamation plan.
The phases in the interior of the pit progress from west to east as long narrow north-south
directional strips. Mining in these phases will limit the amount of overburden and topsoil
stockpiled.
Table D-1 outlines the maximum area of disturbance at any one time in the life-of-mine. Table
D-1 is based on disturbance in Phase 2. See Exhibit L for more detail.
• Table D-1.
