Fertilizer - All areas to be seeded <br /> will be fertilized with not less than 40 or <br /> more than 50 pounds of available nitrogen <br /> (Np) and at least ly0 and not more than 50 <br /> pounds of available phosphorous (Pp05)per <br /> acre. Fertilizer shall be the granular form <br /> and be applied uniformly over the area to be <br /> seeded. Fertilizer will be worked into the <br /> soil during the seedbed preparation. <br /> Fertilizer application and seedbed preparatio <br /> will be timed and the work coordinated so <br /> that the fertilizer will not be exposed to <br /> rainfall prior to the time it is worked into <br /> the soil. <br /> (6). Mulching and Anchoring - Aay mulch will <br /> be applied at the rate of 5,000 pounds per <br /> acre. At least 5096 of the hay mulch should <br /> be 10 inches in length or longer when bales <br /> are opened. Mulching may precede or follow <br /> the seeding operation. Mulch will be spread <br /> uniformly over the area either by hand or <br /> with a mechanical mulch spreader. <br /> A heavy disk or mulch crimper with flat <br /> serrated disks at least one-fourth inch in <br /> thickness, with drill edges and spaced no mor <br /> than 9 inches apart should be used to anchor <br /> the mulch into the soil. Mulch material shal <br /> be anchored into the soil to a depth o£ about <br /> 2-3". Mulch should not be covered with an <br /> excessive amount of soil. Number of passes <br /> over the mulch should not exceed two operat- <br /> ions and should be across the slope where <br /> practicable. <br /> Other acceptable methods of mulching <br /> are available and may be used in lieu of the <br /> above descri'~ed me t'.:od. <br /> 19 <br />
