4
The design will result in a complete set of specifications
from which all components can be ordered, assembled, installed
and operated. The system cost, component power consumption and
delivery time of each component will be determined. `
Waste Preparation and Injection into Hydraulic Lines
The complete surface system design, including preparation
plant changes, will be specified as discussed in the conceptual
design section. The surface system design will include:
a. Coarse refuse crushing to a 2 in. top size
b. Formation of the coarse refuse slurry
c. Pumping of both the coarse and fine refuse slurries
d. Flow monitoring instrumentation
e. Alternative surface system for emergency storage of
the mine refuse.
Pipeline Selection
The pipeline for coarse slurry, fine slurry and return water .
will be sized and specified. Selection will consider wear and
corrosion resistance, cost, maintenance and ease of installation.
Provisions will be made for freezing protection and clean out
access where required. Provisions will also be made in the
slurry lines for insertion of pipe sections which have been con-
structed from various materials. This will provide additional
pipe wear information.
Dewatering System
The dewatering system is discussed in detail in the concep-
tual design section. The major components include: ~
a. Coarse refuse double-deck dewatering screen
b. Solid bowl centrifuge for fine refuse dewatering
c. Sumps and return water pumps for water return to the
wash plant.
•
