6
controlled at the wash plant. A system for communication from
the underground dewatering station to wash plant will be utilized
in coordinating system start-up and shutdown. ,
System Monitoring and Instrumentation
Solids flow, fluid flow, slurry pump discharge pressures,
power consumption and recording instrumentation will be specified.
The following parameters are expected to be continuously monitored:
a. Coarse solids flow rate (weight)
b. Water flow rate to coa rse solids slurry preparation
tank (volume)
c. Fine slurry flow rate (volume)
d. Coarse and fine slurry pump discharge pressure
e. Coarse and fine slurry pump power consumption.
All one-line continuous measurements will be documented on a
multichannel chart recorder. All flow rates will be totalized
for wear data analysis.
Effects of System Design on Mine Operation •
In this task the effects of underground disposal of mining
waste on mine operations will be qualitatively analyzed. This
analysis will include evaluation of changes in:
a. Mining productivity (coal removal/man)
b. Health and safety of production and backfill personnel
as affected by potential reduction in ventilation, and
increase in methane, dust and noise levels
c. Surface subsidence
d. Roof support.
The qualitative conclusions generated in this task will be
developed by FMA, Radmark and WSC team members after completion
of the conceptual design.
u
