and sedimentation from areas bordering the mining zone.
4
5
Methods of Stormwater Collection and Discharge
No paved surfaces are found at the site. Stormwater
which does not soak into the porous gravel surface of the
mining and stockpile area drains across the working area
from South to North into tfie main drainage ditch running
along the highway ROW. The ditch is also located in
course gravel which allows some storniwater t_o seep into
the material underlying the ditch.
Just above the culvert drain pipe at the intersection of
US 50 and CR 37, a sediment control structure is planned.
This structure is intended to detain sediment which may
be carried along the main drainage ditch during
infrequent intense rainfall. The strucr_uT'e will be a
minimum of 1000 sq ft in surface area with a 4' berm
stabilized with river rock to allow a slowing of runoff
velocities along the main drainage ditch before entering
tt~e culvert and 'flowing tf~e final 500' distance to the
Sand Gulch drainage.
Fugitive Dust
Fugitive dust caused by crushing and screening operations
is controlled as described in the individual Air
Pollution and Fugitive Dust Control Plan for that
particular Mobile Crushing grid Screening Plant, including
the use of water truck operation to dampen all roadways
and work areas to minimize fugitive emissions due to
truck and loader traffic.
Under normal pit operating conditions, minimal fugitive
dust controls are necessary due to the relatively course
particle sizes handled and limited truck traffic.
6. Vehicle Service and Cleaning Areas
At the present time, no major service or repair
maintenance is performed on the property. No
steamcleaning or equipment washdown is performed.
There are plans for a maintenance shop to be constructed
in the area directly South of the scales and past of CR
37 sometime in 1995 ar 1596. Where constructed, the
facility will include handstand and catchment for
equipment washdown and liquid materials handling, oil;
water separator insr_alled in shop floor drainage system,
and sanitary septic system in operation meeting all
applicable local regulations. Roof and gutr_er drains
will flow into the Sand Gulch drainage via an appropriate
sediment control structure.
-6-
