Narrative

1. The current static of the open pit sand and gravel
operation is small scale although continuous operation,
with portable crushing, screening, and stockpiling
operations on site for two to three months every three or
four years. Average crushing operations on site are less
than 30 days per annum.
2. Crushing and screening operations on site for limited
periods operate under valid Colorado Dept. of Health Air
pollution Control Emission Permits issued for the
specific mobile crushing and process equipment. Fugitive
dust control measures and process limitations are
followed as listed on the permits for the individual
crushing system on site.
3. pit haul roads and accessways are kept as flat as
possible. A maximum of thirty feet of elevation change
is experienced in tfie mining area including stockpiles,
resulting in minimal potential erosion during a time of
severe rain or snow melt.
4. Due to the location of this deposit, it is strategic to
inter Big Horn Sheep Canyon Highway paving programs
involving asphaltic materials for Highway US 50. When in
operation as described above in conjunction with crushing
and screening operations, asphalt batch plants are
operated in accordance with good engineering practices
and within guidelines and limitations as described in the
plant's' Air Pollution Control Permit. Process liquids
produced during the batching operation are collected in
Bolding areas directly beneath the batching vessels are
recycled into the production sequence. Clean up of all
asphalt batoliing materials including recycled asphaltic
road materials will be accomplished with the recycling of
all asphaltics back to tfie road surfaces.
No process waters are produced or discharged to
stormwater drainage ditches.
5. Fuels and Lubricants are currently stored at the Eastern
end of the mining property near the scales and
maintenance area. Lubricants are kept in a semi trailer-
enclosure. Fuel is stored in above ground tanks of up to
2000 gallons capacity. No underground tanks are on the
property.
b. During times of expanded mine operations crushing,
screening, asphalt batching, water truck operation is
employed on all haulage and access ways.
-4-
