vegetation on the pond side slopes and embankment however, no significant erosion
was noted. The side slopes and embankment appear stable with the following
exceptions; a minor slump, approximately 25 X 100 feet, and seepage in natural
ground on the south side of the pond; and a sink hole which has formed between the
riser and embankment. The sink hole is approximately three feet in diameter. At the
time of the inspection water was discharging into the sink hole. We were unable to
determine were the water was going but suspect it was piping along the culvert. It
was also noted that the dewatering orifice was clogged with debris and sediment.
The debris was removed and the pond was allowed to dewater. A water sample was
taken from the discharge for NPDES reporting. Before the debris was removed the
water level was approximately one foot above the orifice.
The sediment level was approximately one foot above the dewatering orifice and
therefore, should be removed.
