one foot of standing water in the bottom of the pond. The outlet structure showed
no evidence of discharge.
The sediment level was approximately 20 feet below the invert of the spillway. The
accumulated amount of sediment is negligible compared to the capacity of the pond.
POND 4
Pond 4 is an incised pond located on the northwest side of reclaimed Pit 4. Pond 4
has three primary inlets and two outlet structures; a 40 inch riser with a 5 inch
dewatering orifice at the sediment level discharging through a 30 inch culvert; and an
incised trapezoidal channel which serves as an emergency spillway. The entire pond
was inspected. There is limited vegetation on the pond side slopes, however, no
significant erosion was noted. Some minor erosion of the south inlets was observed
although ongoing erosion appeared to be limited by natural armoring. The side
slopes appeared stable with no signs of cracks, slides or seepage. The riser and
dewatering orifice were free of debris and appeared to be functioning properly. There
was approximately one foot of standing water in the bottom of the pond. At the time
of the inspection there was no discharge. The riprapped outlet structure showed no
evidence of discharge.
The sediment level was approximately 3 feet below the dewatering orifice. Because
the sediment level is well below the dewatering orifice, sediment removal is not
required at this time.
POND 5/6
Pond 5/6 is located adjacent to the main access road in an existing intermittent
tributary drainage. It is bounded by the Pit 1 access road which forms the
embankment on the east end of the pond. Pond 5/6 has two primary inlets; a
vegetated channel from Pit 5; and a 24 inch culvert from Pit 6. The pond outlet
structure is a 48 inch riser with a 4 inch dewatering orifice approximately six foot
below the top of the riser. The entire pond was inspected. There is limited
