• 2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
(1) A plan for reclamation of the lands within the proposed permit
area.
(2) Information for the proposed permit area:
(a) A detailed timetable for the completion of each major step in
the reclamation plan.
The underground development waste disposal area was the only area
where reclamation was anticipated to occur concurrent with mining.
However, the mine was reclaimed during 1988 and no permanent
reclamation was performed on the waste disposal area prior to that
time.
The mining operation went into temporary cessation on April 11, 1984,
due to a depressed coal market. In early 1986 the Delta Loadout was
reclaimed. Coal waste from the Delta Loadout was hauled to and
placed in the mine site underground development waste disposal site.
The disturbed areas at the Delta Loadout were seeded to promote a
ground cover. Final bond release was issued for the Delta Loadout in
1987.
The intake, belt portals and return shaft were sealed in August, 1966
to eliminate ventilation and maintenance expenses. A portion of the
underground development waste pile was covered with 9" of overburden
in the fall of 1986 and seeded with the temporary seed mix listed in
section 2.05.4(2)(e)(ii).
The mine was reclaimed during 1986. Remaining reclamation includes
drill hole abandonment which will be performed during 1996 and 1997.
(b) A detailed estimate of the cost of reclamation of the proposed
operations.
The cost of reclamation is presented by dividing the disturbed area
into major sub-areas of disturbance. The sub-areas are shown on
table 2.05.4(2)(b)-3. The total completed reclamation costs are
presented on table 2.05.4(2)(b)-4. This table also presents the
estimated remaining costs to complete the reclamation. The total
completed reclamation costs were the actual costs to reclaim the
site.
(c) A plan for backfillinq, soil stabilization, compacting, and
grading with contour maps.
The following discussion presents a description of the 1968
reclamation project and the remaining reclamation to complete. The
reclamation work described for areas 1 through 5 was performed during
the 1988 reclamation project. Drawing 2.05.4(2)(c)-1 presents the
final contour map for the mine site.
u
126 (Rev. 3-29-96)
