'~
i 2.05.3 (.'•) (b) (vi) (A)
fan structure, remove the shaft lining five feet down, sealing
the shaft at the 88 to 96 foot level, filling the shaft with dirt
and revegetatinq the surface. Refer to the Reclamation Plan,
Section 2.05.4, for specific details. Refer to the Affected i.and
Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-2, for the location of the #1 shaft.
(B) 3000 gallon water tank, water hole, water lines. Grand Mesa
Coal Company's mining activities underground are presently using
domestic water from the Colby Domestic Water Company. A lh inch water
line comes into the north property line 225 feet east of the west
property line. Refer to the Affected Land Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-2, and
the Land Use Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-1. This water is used to fill the
3000 gallon water tank which supplies the mine. A four inch
water line runs from the tank down a six inch borehole into the belt
entry. The water line is grouted in the hole. The four inch line
will continue to run throughout the mine for dust suppression and
fire protection. The water tan:c was installed in 1980 and is
inspected weekly. Maintenance is performed when necessary. Domestic
water lines extend down to the office, old shop, and bathhouse. The
line formed just north of the mine office to each of these places
was replaced in the spring of 1979. The old lines froze and broke
earlier in 1979. The routes for each line was the same as before.
The areas had been previously disturbed so no topsoil was salvaged.
Refer to the Reclamation Plan, Section 2.05.4, for plans on the
removal of Chia facility.
(C) Sub-Station. and power hole.
The Affected Land Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-2, shows the Location of
Grand Mesa Coal Company's surface electrical facilities. The
transmission lines of Delta-Montrose Electric enter the mine property
on the north side near the water tank. In August of 1979, a 1000
KVA sub-station was installed between the water tank and. the shaft.
• This transformer supplies power to the mine and fan. Excavation
was required to install two ground fields approximately 20 by 30
foot each and two to three inches deep. As with the shaft, very
little toposil was present. Therefore, none was seg=egated.
91
