• 2.05.4
Drill holes completed in non artisan aquifers will be sealed using
cement or other suitable sealant by placing the sealant to extend 20
feet above and below the water bearing zone. A surface plug will
then be placed in accordance with the above paragraph. The holes
will be marked.
Reclaimed areas shall be checked annually in June for the formation
of rills and gullies. A report will be prepared to document each
inspection. Rills and gullies deeper than nine inches will be noted
on the report. By the end of August of the same year, rills and
gullies deeper than nine inches will be filled, graded or otherwise
stabilized. Laborers or small equipment will be used to perform the
repairs to minimize the associated disturbance. Inspection reports
will be on file with other records required under Rule 5.02.4.
(d) A plan for removal from storage and redistribution of topsoil.
As discussed in Section 2.04.9 the only places that were to be
disturbed during the term of the permit which have salvageable
topsoil are parts of the proposed "D" coal seam portal area, the
proposed sedimentation pond and the underground development waste
disposal area. Topsoil was not salvaged at any of the other
disturbance at the Red Canyon #1 Mine and proposed #2 Mine site. The
proposed "D" coal seam portal area was not developed. The proposed
sediment pond for the "D" coal seam portal was not constructed. The
• underground development waste disposal area was not expanded into the
area where there was salvageable topsoil. Therefore, no topsoil was
salvaged at the Red Canyon Mines.
(e) A plan for revegetation
(i) Schedule of revegetation
Two types of revegetation were performed. Stabilization of disturbed
areas during use of the land and final reclamation. In both cases,
revegetation was performed the first fall following the disturbance
or final grading.
(ii) Species and amounts per acre of seeds and seedlings to be used.
For stabilization of the disturbed areas, a dry land pasture mix was
applied. This mix is readily available. The rate of seeding was 20
pounds per acre of the following mix:
406 Crested Wheatgrass
206 Intermediate Wheatgrass
206 Russian Rye
206 Western Wheatgrass
The final seed mix was used after final grading in 1988.
u
131
(Rev. 3-29-96)
