3. Flow to surface rights 5-024 and 5-022 be increased
by 2.2 gpm through the .diversion-split box No. 13
(Diversion C) located as shown in Figure 2.
Table 8 shows the summary of well-construction
information including the depth of the screened or open
interval, and the pump-intake depth for each well within two
miles of the NUCLA EAST pit. The data shows that the pump
intakes of 27 out of 29 wells are in the deep bedrock
aquifer, are not in the overburden aquifer, and are too deep
to be influenced by the pit dewatering of the overburden
.,aquifer. The primary impact of reducing the water levels in
• the overburden aquifer may be a minor increase.in pumping
costs amounting to less than five percent of the total
pumping costs.
Wells No. W-009 and W-041 are the shallowest wells close
to the proposed NUCLA EAST pit. The log for Well W-041 shows
that the screened interval begins at a depth of 93 feet or
approximately at an elevation of 5660 feet. For well W-009,
the screened interval is estimated to begin at a depth of 125
.feet or approximately at an elevation of 5710 feet. These
two wells are about 2300 feet from the NUCLA EAST disturbance
boundary. Because the elevation of the screened intervals of
these wells are close to the elevation of the mine pit they
28
GEOTRANS, INC.
