• APPENDIx B.
MINED LAND WILDLIFE STATEMENT
For Limited Impact Operations
(Permit 110-1 and 110-2 ) or
Regular Operations (Permit 112)
. RECEIVED ~,
FEB 02 1998 ~/
Division of Minerals & Geology
Instructions to the Applicant: Submit this Wildlife Statement to MLRD as part of the
MLRD ap~icatlon.

Instructions to OOW District Wildlife Manager: Review the attached Applicant's
Questiornaire, comp ete t is orm~sen~ck to the Regional Office.
Instructions to DOW Regional Staff: Send completed copies of both the Applicant's
Questiomaire and Wildlife Statement along with pertinent correspondence to the
applicant, MLRD, and DWM.
The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by the Mined Land
Reclamation Board in its consideration of a mining permit for:
1. Name and type of mine: RaftoDoulos Pit +k1, Moffat County Rna~i and Rrirlaa ~ant.-
2. Location of mine: Little Snake River drainage. T11N, R95ia, Sec. 9, Moffat Crn~nt.v
3. List threatened or endangered species (federal or state) and other species of
special concern present:
Bald eagle nests/roost trees present on both sides of pit along the Little Snake
River. ald eagle locations are approximately 5 miles east and caest of the pit
location.
Sage grouse use the pit vicinity year-around, but the pit is located more than
two miles from the nearest lek site.
Pronghorn antelope use the pit vicinity year-around.
4. Assess expected impacts to fish and wildlife populations and habitat from project:
Impacts to wildlife native to the vicinity of the proposed gravel pit are expected
to be slight. The eagle nests/roosts are a sufficient distance from the pit
location to avoid disturbance. There will be a temporary loss of habitat for
sage grouse and antelope (as well as other native species), but the pit location
does not provide critical habitat for any species. It is far enough from known
sage grouse lek sites to avoid disturbance of breeding and nesting activities.
Surrounding development/habitat alteration has been limited, so the temporary
loss of an area the size of the pit should not be significant.
The pit is located a considerable distance from the Little Snake River, so no
impacts are expected on the riverine system. t`io wetlands are involved.
(OVER)
-12-
