•
SEDiME1dTATION PONDS
STRUCTURAL INSPECTION PROGRAM
PURPOSE: To conduct structural inspection of sedimentation pond
dams for various hazardous conditions. This is as required by 30 CFR
817.46(b).
METHOD OF INSPECTION:
1. Visually check for deformation in individual steel bin wall
members. This would constitute twisting and buckling.
2. Visually check for deformation of bins in general. This
would constitute leaning of dam or uneven appearance.
3. Visually check for water leaks through or around the dam.
This might indicate piping out of dam material. The visual check
will go sufficiently downstream to observe leakage.
9. Check for erosion around the spillway aprons or around the
dam that might undermine the dam.
5. Dam movements will be monitored using surveying stations and

technic7ues.
l
SEl71M ENTA"rlo+.!
~Nv
i'E}=MA FJ ~Ir
srA-TioN
bra) WAIL
~J
";
. ~,
rarzU=r
eETENTION bAM
-=PLAN - MON~TOi?-r.IG LAYouT
- Nat To sca l.~
--~--
k1OtJ{rO~ ~Ifl
-GF~tJD
- LFVEI.
fl=1AIL,- MONITo2
~!~
rloT Tb ~ LE
