<br />Ormiston Point Gravel Pit <br /> <br />Page 2 <br />Seed that is drilled shall be placed at a depth between 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch. Seed that <br />is broadcast shall be inwrporated into the soil surface by raking, dragging, or <br />harrowing to a depth not greater than 3/4 of an inch. <br />5. Seed Mixture - A cool season, native grass mix is recommended. See the CO-ECS-S <br />for recommended species and rates. All seeding rates aze for plantings done with a <br />drill. If the seed is broadcast, these rates shall be doubled. <br />6. Mulching -The seeded azea shall be mulched. Mulch shall be clean, certified weed <br />free straw or grass hay. At least 50 percent of the mulch by weight shall be 10 inches <br />or longer in length. The mulch shall be evenly spread at a rate of 4,000 pounds per <br />acre across the seeded azea. The mulch shall be crimped into the soil with a straight set <br />disk. Should there be areas too steep for equipment to safely operate on, these azeas <br />can be hydromulched or covered with an erosion control blanket. <br />7. Weed Control -Control of competitive weeds is important. Control can be achieved by <br />mowing or chemicals. All chemicals shall be applied according to label. Post- <br />emergent chemical weed control shall be applied according to label and the growth <br />stage of the seedlings. <br />Should you have any questions please call me at 565-9045, extension 114.
