\~ <br />• • 4\~ <br />PIT PLAN <br />PIT DESCRIPTION The gravel pit is located principally in the northeast corner <br />corner of Section 16, T.39N., R.17W., N.M.P.M., with small <br />portions in the adjacent corner of Sections 9, 10, and 15. <br />initial pit development steps such as clearing, road <br />construction, fencing, and topsoil stripping have been <br />completed for Phase I. No additional pit development work, <br />outside of Phase I, is anticipated for the life of the <br />permit. Refer to the Pit Development Plan for the special <br />use permit issued on July 6, 1990 for initial pit development <br />activities. <br />CLEARING No additional clearing will be required during the life o£ <br />this permit. Pit drainage will be kept within the pit area <br />for a wildlife water source to be located in the southwest <br />corner of the area designated as Phase I. The water <br />development will constructed during the final reclamation <br />phase of Phase I. <br />TOPSOIL Topsoil has been stripped and stockpiled along the edges of <br />the Phase I area. The county will condition and preserve <br />stockpiled Copsoil. Topsoil shall be seeded and if <br />necessary, fertilized. Also, the noxious weeds on the <br />topsoil stockpiles shall be controlled. The seeding, <br />fertilizing, and noxious weed control shall be completed in <br />fy 1998. <br />RECLAMATION Reclamation during the life of this permit will consist of <br />reclaiming the east-half of Phase I, consisting of <br />approximately a acres. See the attached map for slope <br />specifications. The reclamation plan can be mutually <br />changed. Changes will be documented in writing. <br />Reclamation will be completed prior to the termination of <br />this permit or as directed by the Forest Service using the <br />species adapted to the site and that are native when <br />feasible. The following sequence will be followed: <br />1. Topsoil is spread, graded, and incorporated over spoil. <br />2, A cover crop of either sorghum/sudangrass at the rate of <br />10 lbs. P.L.S/ per acre or border oats at the rate of 40 lbs. <br />per acre will be drilled. This will be done during spring or <br />early summer. <br />Page 9 <br />
