"EXHIBIT I"
I ,
' Property Investrient Developers , Inc .
October 23, 1973
Page 2
I
to you. The spPciflc gravity and Los Angeles abrasion percent %rear
are within normal limits for base course , asphalt aggregate or concrete
aggregate . The preliminary sodium sulfate soundnP.s•, test results Indicate
that the material will also be within normal requirements for percent
loss .
Conclusions : The proposed site Is suitable for development as a sand and
gravel plt operatlon. The pit will have to be developed In accordance
with the requirements of House 811 ) 1529 which requires reclamation of
the area after the mining has been completed. Because of the high ground
water table In the area , the majority of the sand and gravel stratum will
have to be either recovered from beneath the ground water table or the
ground water table lowered . The upper soils which writ be stripped from
the pit should be suitable for use as overlot grading. The volume of
material which may be recovered from the site wlII be limited by the
setbacks required to protect the Interstate hlghway , the railroad , 71,th
Avenue , Colorado Boulevard and the Burlington Canal . The volur•c will
also be reduced by the side slopes required for stability . The materials
above the ground water table should b4 excavated wlth a maximum slope- on
the order of 2 : 1 , Below the ground water table , the slopes sh,u1G riot be
steeper than 3 : 1 . As Indicated by the gradatlons , an excess of sand will
be produced In the processing . This can probably be sold as a fill
material .
If we can be of further service , please call .
Very truly yours ,
p °•, CHEN AND ASSOCIATES, INC .
9921 a'' * : By _
" Harold Iio Ings th, Jr..,O—C
HII/bn !F •• •••'
Eric Is .
