The pit will continue to operate annually. The supply is undetermined, but is
expected to last indefinitely because of the limited usage of the pit. Mining will begin as
soon as all the proper permits aze obtained.
The equipment to be used in the pit area will be a dozer, front end loader, and
trucks. All equipment maintenance will be done at the Fryreaz farmstead and not at the pit
site.
Water Resources -
The pit site does have a local, intermittent drainageway flow through it. .
However, this drainage is only local in nature and does not serve as a
tributary to any creek, river, or stream. During periods of heavy rainfall,
there will be intermittent flow from north to south through the pit area
Typically that flow moves on through the site fairly quickly. The
excavation will encounter no groundwater. No existing water rights will be
injured.
EXHIBIT D -Reclamation Plan
The Fryrears plan to create an azea for wildlife habitat when the pit area is finally
closed. The habitat azea would include shelter, food, and water. The desired reclamation
plan is to create an azea where intermittent drainage flow could be collected into a pond.
Side slopes will be left no steeper than 3:1. Vegetation will be established on the side
slopes down to the proposed water line for the pond. The Yuma County Natural
Resource Conservation Service has provided recommendations for top soil replacement,
cover mulch, and seeding recommendations. Their recommendation is attached.
Stockpiled topsail will be seeded to prevent wind erosion.
The Fryreazs have already established plum thickets and plantings of cedars on
immediately an adjoining CRP strip. In addition to the grasses re-established on the
slopes, more plum thickets and cedars may be placed around the perimeter of the
completed excavation.
EXHIBIT E -Mans
Location Map
USGS Quad Map
Site Map
Mining Plan Map
Reclamation Plan Map
