EXHIBIT A -Legal Description
Approximately 9.9 acres in the SE 1/4 ofthe SW 1/4 ofSection 2, TSN, R47W of
the 6th P.M., Yuma County, Colorado. The acreage includes a low drainage area within
that 40 acres. Delineator boundary posts will be set to mark the pit areas as shown on the
map.
EXIIIBIT B -Site Description
Veeetation -
There is no vegetation in the azea proposed for the gravel pit. It has
normally been farmed and is currently fallow for this growing season.
Wildlife -
No significant amount of wildlife has been encountered during any of the
visits to the site. Normal species appearing at the site could be coyotes,
rabbits, skunks, badgers, and pheasants. There aze no known threatened or
endangered species.
Soil Information -
The Soil Conservation Service soil. maps shows the soil as being prunarily
of the Albinas loam category.. This soil is a deep, well drained, nearly level
soil on flood plains and stream terraces.. Another soil type found at the
site is the Eckley gravely sandy loam. The soil survey shows the Albinas
soil as being fair roadfill material. The Eckley loam is listed as good
roadfill material. However, actual excavation indicated sufficient quantities
of sand and gravel for excavation purposes.
EXHIBIT C -Mining Plan
The pit will be accessed from Yuma County Road 59. A simple driveway fill will
provide access. The access is shown on the maps attached to this application. No new
roads or trails will be constructed.
Sand and gravel will be mined from the area. Mining will begin neaz Co. Rd. 59
and proceed north. Excavation will continue as the need for material continues and as the
supply remains available. Gravel could be mined as deep as 20 feet. Topsoil will be
stripped and stockpiled for later use in re-vegetation. The topsoil will be stockpiled
outside of the actual mining area, near CPR ground in the quarter. The topsoil stockpile
will be seeded with vegetation to prevent soil erosion.
Some stockpiling of gravel may be done at the site, but most of the gravel will be
utilized as it is mined. Any stockpiling that does occur will be placed out of the drainage
flowline which runs through the azea. The anticipated stockpile area is also shown on the
mining plan. No processing of material is anticipated at the pit.
