. EXHIBIT B-SITE DESCRIPTION
The affected land is situated at an elevation of about 9,630 feet on an open
southerly-facing slope. The area is open rangeland; the adjacent lands aze open,
and the native vegetation present is rangeland grasses. The average precipitation
is about 15 to 20 inches annually.
The site is accessed from Bison St., in the City of Cripple Creek, to the south
boundazy of the mining claim. The road bed is pre-existing and is roughly
perpendiculaz to the slope. The road bed is wide, well drained, and will not
require upgrading other than any safety requirements that may be imposed by
MSHA.
All of the area to be disturbed is made up of native soils that are associated
with open range grasslands. The soils present are moderately shallow, coarse to
medium, well drained loamy-skeletal. The swface layer is a grayish brown
gravely loam to gravely sandy loam of variable thickness that was observed to
range from one to fow inches. The subsoil is gravely, boulderly, sandy, or a
• sandy gravely clay matrix of vaziable thickness. The vegetation around the site
includes the following:
Grasses and grass-like plant: oat grass
Various wheat grasses, smooth brome fescue,
Cheat grass, day sedges, fringed sale, wavy thistle,
Mullein, various annual Forbes, current and gooseberry.
The operation is expected to have a minimal impact on wildlife during the
course of operations. The mining operation will have the effECt of immediately
displacing animals inhabiting the immediate azea (these aze very few because of
the lack of suitable cover, except for ground-dwelling rodents, and possibly a few
birds), and using the adjacent lands for foraging or hunting. Wildlife in the
general area includes species of lazge animals (mule deer & elk), small mammals
(rodents, cottontail rabbit, skunk, fox, coyote, and ground squirrels), and various
resident and seasonal birds including song birds, raptors, and other birds
(Mountain Chickadee, Junco, Raven Mountain Jays, Hawks, Flicker, Magpie,
Humming-birds, and owls}.
Page3, 110
