• 3. Blower fans will not be used. <br />4. Brattice will be used to ventilate faces during idle shifts and <br />unscheduled fan failures. During these unscheduled fan <br />failures, brattice will be installed if the fan is not operating <br />again within 15 minutes. <br />L. DIESEL EQUIPMENT <br />1. Any diesel equipment used in or inby the last open crosscut <br />shall be schedule 31 approved. <br />2. All diesel equipment shall be maintained and operated in <br />accordance with the manufactures' specifications and maintenance <br />manual. These manuals and specifications shall be made <br />available for reference. <br />3. Once each shift in working areas where diesel equipment is used, <br />examinations for carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO ) <br />shall be made at the exhaust and in the immediate return of ea~h <br />split approximately } hour after start up. If samples are above <br />the current threshold limits, corrective actions will be taken <br />immediately. A record of these examinations (along with their <br />results) shall be maintained in a book kept on the surface. <br />• 4. The examiner shall be provided with appropriate equipment to <br />properly check for recirculation and air quantity. <br />5.. Once every day the diesel equipment shall be examined by a <br />qualified person to insure that the equipment and scrubber <br />system is being maintained in proper operating condition. A <br />record of this examination, including the examiners initials and <br />date, shall be kept on the surface. <br />6. The minimum quantity of air to be maintained over each diesel <br />shuttle car during operation shall be 11,250 cfm and the minimum <br />quantity of air passing through the last open crosscut where <br />diesel equipment is used shall be 15,000 cfm. <br />7. Similarly, any other diesel equipment working in an outby area, <br />other than haulage equipment working on main intakes, shall have <br />an examination made for any poisonous or noxious gases <br />immediately down wind from the working area during the time <br />period as detailed above. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
