D. MAIN FAN INSTALLATIONS <br />All main fan installations shall meet or exceed all criteria <br />established in Sections 75.300-2 and 75.300-3, 30 CFR, unless a <br />variance is granted by the district manager. <br />*Where multiple fans are in use (at the same portal area), the <br />operator may energize or de-energize one or more fans. The fan <br />changes will take place during times when no persons are in the mine, <br />the mine is idle, and the mine power has been de-energized. Air <br />quality and quantity will be maintained in accordance with 30 CFR <br />15.300 and the pertaining sections of this ventilation plan. <br />E. DUST CONTROL PLAN AT OUTBY AREAS <br />1. The following dust control practices shall be adhered to at <br />these indicated locations. <br />a. Transfer points will be cleaned and rockdusted as needed. <br />b. Loading points will be cleaned as needed. <br />c. The belt entries will be cleaned and rockdusted as needed. <br />• d. All roadways which are naturally dry and/or dusty will be <br />maintained in a damp and well compacted condition. <br />F. METHANE AND DUST CONTROL AT FACE AREAS <br />Continuous Miner Sections: <br />1. Line brattice shall be kept 15' from and tubing shall be kept <br />10' from the deepest penetration of a face from which coal is <br />being mined or loaded. <br />2. A minimum quantity of 6,000 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air <br />shall reach each working face from which coal is being cut, <br />mined, or loaded. <br />3. The minimum mean entry face velocity as specified in Section <br />75.301-4, 30 CFR 75, shall be 60 feet per minute in all working <br />places where coal is being cut, mined, or loaded. <br />* MSHA must be notified and approval granted prior to any major <br />ventilation change. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
