• amount and quality of topsoil to reclaim this pit as required by
the Soil Conservation Service. Topsoil will then be evenly spread
over the recontoured pit area to a depth of 6" in preparation of a
uniform seed bed. The seed will be applied using a grass drill.
Reseeding will be in accordance with the Soil Conservation Service
recommendations (see attached report). Reseeding and planting
will be done in the fall after October 10th or in the spring
before May 1st. Reseeding in this manner will offer the best
chance of successful revegetation.
It is estimated that Grand County can complete total recontouring
of this site in 60 to 90 days after cessation of mining.
Reclamation and reseeding of the site will be done in the fall or
spring to guarantee optimum results for revegetation. The area is
partially fenced. It will be entirely fenced prior to
reclamation. Access will be strictly limited for at least one
full growing season.
Grand County will inspect the site on a monthly basis after
reseeding to determine the success of the revegetation program.
If it is determined by Grand County and the Soil Conservation
Service that additional reseeding is needed after one full growing
season, then Grand County will reseed the site or portions of the
site as needed in the approved manner presented in this plan.
• Grand County cooperates fully with all federal and state agencies
in the control of noxious weeds on public property. Grand County
has a weed control department and will utilize this department to
assess and control any noxious weeds that may occur on this site.
•
2
