CONTAINP(GNT REQUIREMENTS (Coal Mines only) <br />Tl~e facilities shall be designed, constructed and maintained to contain <br />or treat the volume of water from active mining areas, pre para[ion <br />plants, and associated areas which would result from a 10-year', <br />24-hour, precipitation even[. The term "10-year, 24-hour precipitation <br />event" means the maximum 24-hour precipitation event with a probable <br />reoccurrence interval of once in 10 years. <br />Within 90 days of the effective date of the permit, [he permittee shall <br />submit verification that the facility leas been designed, constructed <br />and maintained in accordance with the criteria above. This <br />verification shall also identify the gauge station used and the <br />10-year, 24-hour precipitation figure (in inches of rain). Such <br />verification may be in the form of a letter or other indication from <br />the Colorado Alined Land Reclamation Board, the Federal Office of <br />Surface `fining, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, or other <br />appropriate agency acceptable to the Colorado Water Quality Control <br />Division, stating that the above criteria have been met. <br />STORM EXE".4PTION* 1/ <br />Any overflow, increase in volume of a discharge, or discharge from a <br />by-pass system, which is caused by precipitation or snowm2lt, shall not <br />be subject to [he limitations set forth in PART 1-A Page 2 of this <br />permit.
