2.0 MONITORING PLAN
This section summarizes existing site data, identifies surface water monitoring locations,
details monitoring frequency, and provides data collection and analytical testing procedures.
2.1 CURRENT SITE CONDITIONS
Existing water quality and flow information for the site consists of the following:
• Outfa11002 -monthly flow and water quality
• Outfa11001 receiving channel -monthly flow (no documented discharge)
• Outfa11001 pipe - no flow or water quality data has been collected
• Process water pipe outfall to pond -weekly totalized flow, no current water
quality data
• Lined pond -two water quality samples.
Collection of monthly water quality and flow data are required as part of CDPS permit No.
0029947 for the LWM for Outfalls 001 and 002. Data are collected at the outfall from a 4-
inch PVC pipe at Outfall 002. Outfa11002 water discharges to the ground surface and
infiltrates within approximately 50 feet of the pipe outfall. The drainage pipe, directly
upstream from Outfall pipe 001, discharges to a dry channel in upper Logan Wash. Data are
collected from the natural channel (which is usually a dry, ephemeral channel) approximately
100 feet downstream from the pipe. Discharge from the drainage pipe infiltrates into the
unconsolidated sediments of the channel before reaching Outfall 001 monitoring location.
Current and proposed monitoring locations are shown on Figure 1.
2.2 IDENTIFICATION OF MONTIORING LOCATIONS
A site reconnaissance of LWM was conducted on November 16, 1995 to assess existing
conditions and to identify surface water monitoring locations. The data was documented
during this reconnaissance. Site inspection was conducted which included the Logan Wash
channel, the plumbing system near the mine, permitted outfalls, pipeline conveyance to the
6
