Pond 10 collects run-off from CRDA-2. The pond was dry during the inspection.
Volume III, Appendix 13-2, page CRDA2-1 shows its design water and sediment
capacities are 1.37 A-F and 1.23 A-F respectively. There are approximately 3-feet of
sediment buildup in the pond. This figure is derived from the average length of the two
sediment poles located in the pond minus the design depth. The percent of sediment
buildup is 56% (3' deep divided by 5.3' maximum depth). Based on this sediment
buildup and aerial topo maps, the pond has the following estimated capacity:
Water Sediment Total
Pond 10 A-F 1.48 0.58 2.06
Pond 11 collects run-off from Cameo Borrow Area No 2. The pond was dry during the
inspection. The Operator obtained approval from the DMG, (TR-47), to amend the
design of the pond so it relies primarily on storage to control run-off from the design
event (DMG Rule 4.05.9(2)(e)). Therefore, the open channel primary spillway was no
longer required and it was backfilled during late October 2005. The design event the
pond must contain is the 25-year event which generates 0.47 A-F of sediment and 0.66
A-F of run-off for a total required pond capacity of 1.13 A-F. The estimated capacity of
the pond is 5.7 A-F so the pond is significantly oversized for both sediment and water
capacity.
Pond 13 collects run-off from the reclaimed north portal. The pond was dry during the
inspection. Volume V, Appendix 14-6, page 14-6-58 and 60 show that its design water
and sediment capacities are 0.80 A-F and 0.31 A-F respectively. There is little if any
sediment buildup in the pond. Therefore, the pond's capacity is obtained from the most
recent pond certification performed by James E. Stover on August 29, 2002.
Water Sediment Total
Pond 13 A-F 0.80 0.34 1.14
The CBA-1 sump collects run-off from Cameo Borrow Area No. 1. The sump was dry
during the inspection. The sump was certified by Larry M. Reschke, P.E., on
September 10, 1994. Based on visual observations during the inspection and a hand
level survey of the depth of the sump, CBA-1 sump has the following estimated
capacity which is also Mr. Reschke's certified capacity.
Water Sediment Total
CBA-1 Sump A-F 0.18 0.04 0.22
-3-
