(a) Hazard shall mean a significant source of risk, danger ar peril resuking from
natural phenomena or conditions including those precipitated or caused by
activities of humans.
(b) Hozard, Geologic shall mean a geological phenomenon, which is so adverse to
past, current or foreseeable construction or land use as to constitute a significant
hazard to public health and safety, or to property. The teen includes but is not
limited to avalanches, landslides, rods falls, mud flows, and unstable or potential{y
unstable slopes.
(c) Hazardous Material shall mean a substance or combination of substances which,
because of its quantity, concentration, or physical, dtemiml or infectious
characteristics, may either. (I) Cause, or significantly contribute to an inaease in
mortality or an increase in serious irreversible, or inwpadtating reversible, illnesst
or (2j Pose a substantial present or potential hazard to human health or
environment when improperly treated, stored, transported or disposed of or
otherwise managed.

(d) Health pepartment or Health Services shall mean the Gilpin County Department
of Public and Environme~rtal Health Services.
(e) Helipad shall mean the same as heliport except that no refueling, maintenance,
repairs or storage of helicopter is permitted. .
(f) Heliport shall mean an area of land or water or structural surface that is used,
or intended for use, for the landing and take-off of helicopters, and any
appurtenant areas that are used, ar intended for use, for heliport buildings and
other heliport facilities.
(g) Historical, Cul}ural or Archeologiool resource shall mean any area in the County
that has been officially designated or recognized an area for intended
conservation, preservation or restoration by the Board of County Commissioners.
(h) Home Occupation (Home-Based Business) shall mean any use customarily
wnducted entirely within a dwelling or accessory structure and carried on by the
inhabitants thereof, which use is cleorly incidental to the use of the structure for
dwelling purposes and which does not change the character thereof or does not
adversely affect the uses permitted in the zone of which it is a part.
(i) Hospital shall mean an institution providing physical or mental health services,
primarily for inpatients or out-patiestts utilizing hospital staff, overnight
accommodations, and medical and/or surgical cafe of the sick or injured.
(j) Hotel shall mean facility offering transient lodging accommodations to the
general public, containing six (6} or more guest rooms without kitchens, and which
may provide additional services and facilities, such as dining, recreation, and
meeting space. Hotel shall include motel.
